so my friends grandma gave me her 91 plymouth laser. the car was in pretty good shape but it had alot going bad on it. so i took the turbo off, plugged the oil lines and coolant lines, put the manifold back on, put a u pipe attachment to it and ran a straight pipe outta the engine with no hood for my exhaust, but now im done with that and ready to put this turbo to use. the bearings and everything seem perfect but the exhaust side of the housing has a pretty solid crack thru the wastegate part and even if that wasnt there the waste gate doesnt close. so im planning on welding the waste gate down, bolting the dump flange off and filling the hole thing with epoxy just to make sure nothing gets by. so basically i wrote all this to ask this simple question: if i put an external wastegate coming off the manifold do i still need the 14b wastegate actuator or will a manual under the good boost controller be enough. if anyone wants to see a picture of the laser with the straight pipe exhaust lemme know thanks guys
