100+ MPH freeway race turned on the check engine light
This morning on the way to work on the freeway, got behind a blue 92ish tegra in the left lane, silver mudflaps hangin out.
so im drinking my coffee waiting patiently for him to get over when center lane clears. He didn't move, so i pull into the center to pass him, but then as i pull forward about 80mph in 5th just cruising, I look back he suddenly decides to go faster, and i hear a blapp blapping coming from his coffee can. so he is hanging just far enough to my corner for me not to pull into the left lane and a truck is coming up in the center, . So i slam it into 4th and hit the right lane to get around until im back in the left lane, and his headlights are little dots in my rearview. Im slowing down by the time i look down and see im over 100mph and 7500rpm. I was running her pretty hard, and for the first time since i put the turbo on, a CEL comes on. im a little concerned, and for the rest of the way to work i take it easy. turn off the car. fire it up again and the CEL is gone. id like to know what the code was, but the CEL is gone. Can I still retreive the code? 95 EX p28 piggyback emanage. |
Re: 100+ MPH freeway race turned on the check engine light
Probably not gunna be able to retrieve the code i dunno if emange allows it, Are your o2 sensors disabled, cause that sounds like a o2 sensor CEL, most likely, nothing really to worry about!
DISABLED o2 sensors FTW, closed loop FTL! |

hmmm found this on hondacarforum. wonder if this is what happened this morning.
looks like chipping the P28 might be the best way to go. Can't be having my fuel cut on me, when im wide open throttle. that aint right. Hondata gets rid of that limit as well? i might be leaning towards the s300. From hondacarforum>>>>>92-95 ex and si came with a d16z6 sohc vtec, puttin out 125 hp. the 5 speed version has the p28 ecu, which cuts fuel off at 112mph. Im not 100% sure if it's the same for an automatic. Check your owners manual, it'll say, i just don't feel like gettin up. |

there are some crazy MFrs out here, see motorcycles on the freeway doin over 100 all the time. this civic attracts drivers with something to prove, yesterday on my way home from work minding my own business, on a long extended 2 lane curve, im glued to the ground taking the corner, and a new mazda6 decided he wanted to show me "how Good" he could out corner me on his 18s and stock suspension. so he pulls out to the outside lane and runs the lane next to me passing me, and his rear wheel came off the ground as his whole body lurched to the side. wow really showed me.. lol |
Re: 100+ MPH freeway race turned on the check engine light
P28 ecu does NOT cut fuel at 112 mph, but the P06 DX does.
Stock P28 ecu and I was going 145-150 mph on a juiced stock Z6 |
Re: 100+ MPH freeway race turned on the check engine light
Haha are you kidding, I can assure you that the P06 does not cut fuel after 112! Maybe a stock one!
