Default 1.5L mini-me.... IHI RHB5 or T3? opinions/experience plz

Hi i have a 1.5L mini-me (d15b1/d16z6) and im putting together a turbo kit. I seen a friend of mine throw a rod through a 1.5L block with 10psi on a 14b...Im just wondering what would be a better idea... 8psi on an IHI RHB5 or 8psi on a T3 (Saab .42/.48 i think)??

I want the engine to last a little bit, i know the turbo is going to cut my engine life a little, but i dont want it to blow in a week.. here's my setup..

D15B1 shortblock
D16Z6 head
D16Z6 IM w/ AEM fuel rail
DSM 450cc injectors
TurboEDIT tuned ECU
StreetImports 12x9x3" FMIC
Venom Pro Type I BOV
choice of HF manifold or Y7 manifold with respective adapter plates
Apex'i SAFC
A/F ratio gauges
oil temp gauge
boost gauge

What do you guys think i should do?

my rhb5 suits me fine, spools like all hell when you barely touch the throttle.

I already have both turbos is why i was asking...i have both adapter plates already made for my HF manifold, or i could simply cut my Y7 manifold and weld one side of the adapter plate to it for either turbo.

I'm going for power & longevity here, but like i said, i know the engine wont last forever, but i'd like to make it last longer than a week.

I've read that a small turbo, although it doesnt move as much cfm and not as much air gets pressurized so therefore less pressure against the rotating assembly, it is forced to work even harder and thus heating the air charge even more, leading to detonation.

The T3 on the other hand absolutely dwarfs the midget RHB5, but too much cfm might make the rod kiss the block goodbye and go on an air trip..

Does anybody have experience with turbocharging this engine, D15 Mini-me specifically (due to the compression ratio difference from a normal 1.5), and if so, what turbo did you use, how much boost, and what was your total setup?

dude, i'm boosting 10 psi all day on my stock d15b7, i know it's not a mini-me but still. I've been running the hack and it's been running like a stock turbo car. The turbo is a garrett 42/48 a.r spools pretty quik. I's not the fastest honda, but it took integras and other dohc motrs pretty easy.

with the comp ratio of a mini-me and 10 psi I would at least run good gas and colder plugs.
You could look into buying a thicker head gasket.
I'm going to turbo my D15B2 10-11 psi daily driven.

i ran an a6/z6 combo awith 8psi for a while til the turbo blew. it was with a garret. i would stick with the smaller ihi and dont go past 8psi on 91 octane. it should be fine. thats a really good combination mang.

hey man I have the JDM D15B which is basically a stock Japanese version of the mini-me the cam is a little bit better then the D16Z6/Y8 cam but other then that they are the same, compression is 9.6:1 and I am running 10psi with boost creep to 11psi in 3rd and 4th and boost spikes to 12psi, I have been running for 5K miles with 450's and the AFChack, uberdata on the way. mad crazy power running somewhere in the 13's beat a consistant 14.0 240sx w/SR20 swap, around christmas time.
