08 ram rear mount turbo build
hi, i have an 08 ram quad cab 5.7L hemi.. Im going to start building up a rear mount turbo setup. shooting for 600hp on 8 lb boost :
parts i am going to use: 2.5" charge tube from turbo to intercooler to intake. 4" intake snorkel and filter to the turbo (air inlet) 30x12x4 intercooler. synapse 5psi waist gate synapse bov remote 12v oil pump, fabricated oil reservoir, for oil, (i am not running oil lines to engine) going to have a separate oil system with filtration. dual stage boost controller 5psi and 8psi settings. i started the turbo sizing and then got a little lost. i need help choosing the turbo size so i can run 5 lb boost and not much over 8 lb for full hp.. (CID × RPM) ÷3456 = CFM 360 x 4000 416 cfm 416 × 0.85 = 516.5 CFM 85 vm = 354cfm pressure ratio (desired psi + 14.7) / 14.7 = (10 + 14.7) / 14.7 = 1.68:1 pressure ratio 5 + 14.7 = / 14.7 = 1.34 pressure ratio that is about as far as i got.. any help would be appreciated. i figured that a tc76 .96 ar is about what i need i think, from reading lots of websites and compairing notes. I'm trying to develop some boost at 2000 rpm which is my normal cruse rpm on the highway. |

Look at the compressor map of the turbos you're considering and see what the efficiency is at for the flow you need. Try to stay in the 75% plus efficiency range if you can. Jaden |
