$70 Ebay BOV dismantled *pictures*

I bought a "TCC Works" $69.99 ebay bov. Seems like a pretty good unit, solid construction and decent price. I've heard good and bad things about them but so I decided to take mine apart and show you what was inside. There's isn't much inside, but the construction is very solid! Anodized aluminum body, brass piston inside all greesed up, a huge spring and rubber seal around the body where the cap screws on (to keep the vacuum). This is an adjustable blow off valve, but there isn't room for a whole lot of adjustment. But there is a little bit.

Aren't those ones that the whole top turns to adjust them? That is what it looks like to me, looks like lots of play to adjust them....

I used one of those blow off valves on a setup i did recently for a kid (he supplied parts) I thought it was the shittiest blow off valve, I tried adjusting it either way and I got compressor surge no matter what. The valve kept opening way late.

Just because its anoidized blue doesnt make it special, Function over fashion.. I'd take a 1g dsm anyday over that.

Is there really that big of a difference in BOV i mean obviously there is gonna be better ones and so on but don't they basically perform the same? If you adjust a BOV can't you just get a cheap manual boost controler, wouldn't that be better?

WTF are you talking about.. a boost controller and blow off valve are 2 different things.

I sold my 1g dsm for this one haha. How much boost was the kid running and did you try cutting half a coil off the spring inside?

We need to start regulating around here ::) Talk ---- in the general discussion but don't start ---- in a legitimate post with legimate information.

Compressor surge is hard to explain, it kinda sounds like a snake or the best way I can describe it is by...you every watch the Jason movies? You know his theme song? The "che che che ha ha ha" well compressor surge sounds like the "che che che" part of it.

I have a Greddy Type-S and it was fighting me for a while with compressor surge. I had to move it around a little and eventually I got it to work good. I tried that method suggested in the FAQ on connecting the nipple to the compressor and I didn't like the sound of it.

the best way to explain it is: you will know what it is when you hear it :P

just watch any of those japanese best motoring videos with turbo silvias and whatnot they don't run bov's for some reason. must be that whole "compressor surge isn't bad for the turbo" argument. anyway, i bought my apex-i dual stage bov for $65 on ebay. =)

I wouldnt start by cutting that spring in half, you could end up with a leaky BOV. Try starting with 1/5 of the spring and go from there. good luck!

silvias....and most stock turbo cars are NOT speed density, meaning they dont run a MAP sensor, and if the 'blow off' the car will run hella rich and will usually stall out....
