will this work??

Info: http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ct...Itemnumber=3395
Used this during 2 different projects (had to literally cut the whole front clip off a 3rd gen camaro, and the last time was about 2 months ago to repair a load of cracked/broken blades and tools at this guy's farm) w/ a combined use of 2 oxygen and 1 acetylene tank.
This is a great tool in the right hand's....Can cut through metal like a hot knife through butter, heat it for bending, and weld it together.
NEW: $299.99
My price: $150

220 VOLT, 130 TIG/90 ARC WELDER INVERTER
This was never used....got it as a present from an uncle, guess he was tired of me coming over and using his. Kinda sucks that I never got it hooked up, It's a great machine for welding projects.
NEW: $259.99
My price: $150

would this be a decent setup to use for making manifolds and other misc ----??? Ive been wanting to get a welder and make some crazy ---- for my house, but want to be sure whatever I get will work for manifolds and headers also. A local guy has it, if its good then ill snag it up next week lol.

Re: will this work??

I just need to know if it will handle what I need it for, manifolds and headers. If it can work with that, then itll work for my other plans.

Re: will this work??

Yes it will work...christ...you want us to come over and strike a arc for you and make the damn maifold..scratch start an arc that is.

Re: will this work??

Nope, I just needed to know before I bought something I couldnt use lol.

Re: will this work??

It's a welder....it's welds metal...you have metal that needs to be welded...what else do you need to know.

moto21dx 04-05-2007 01:14 PM

Re: will this work??

lol no ----, I meant with thickness, strength of the welds and penetration with certain metals and how thick they are.

Re: will this work??

dude, you're buying a harbor freight welder to make manifolds? gtfo

moto21dx 04-06-2007 12:21 PM

Re: will this work??

not as a business or anything, just for friends basically, and small things like exhausts, and bodywork. And I wouldnt be buying it, ill be trading him for a block I have.

But I dont want to end up with something I cant use. Dont want to start making things that are going to not be able to withstand their normal use.

Re: will this work??

Hahahah that won't be friends after you start welding and making manifolds.

moto21dx 04-06-2007 12:49 PM

Re: will this work??

lol... So what should I look into getting then?

stillnoturbo 04-06-2007 12:53 PM

Re: will this work??

moto21dx 04-06-2007 12:55 PM

Re: will this work??

Re: will this work??

Really though, the HF should work fine. Oxy torch is pretty caveman style for making a manifold.

crxrx7 04-08-2007 04:49 PM

Re: will this work??

Yeah the oxy torch would work but it really wouldn't look so good. It should be the same softness as a tig weld and it would hold up as long as you got penetration. The only problem I see with it is it puts a lot of heat into it and I think it would warp the ---- out of it.

moto21dx 04-08-2007 07:20 PM

Re: will this work??

Imactually not getting the torch. I think imma get the tig/arc for minor jobs though, like bodywork and exhuasts.
