You don't trust your dad? He's probably pretty good at it.

I run between 17-18 cf on my mig.

+1 on 17-18 cf. i have thought about turning it up to see if things might get better, but the power in my garage is unstable and causes some shitty welds. if i plug the welder into my house i get awesome welds

You shouldn't need more than 20cfm on something like that

Re: What psi do you guys run your gas at on your mig?
16cfm indoors
20 outdoors 25+ on a windy day as long as you dont get spatter all over the place you should be fine. YOu should get the power fixed in your garage. It cant be good for the welder. |
Re: What psi do you guys run your gas at on your mig?
You don't run psi (------- idiot)
15-20cf (non helium) is the norm for these size welders. .030, and under 1/8" CS use 10-15 .030, and under 1/8" SS use 15-20 and your dad is stupid. you might aswell not use shielding gas at all at that point. its so turbulent coming off the cup you're simply swirling air into the arc. |
Re: What psi do you guys run your gas at on your mig?
on anything beside a fillet weld (flanges, brackets) i run 20-22cfh on tri-mix
on fillets i can get away w/ 12-15cfh because the material keeps the gas inplace for you |
Re: What psi do you guys run your gas at on your mig?
horse beat to death, but here's my $.02
On Stainless i run 20 Mild, i run 15 until the gas gets low, and i'm a cheap ass S.O.B. So i turn it down to 10 cuz i dont wanna refill soon. But like it says, Indoors you can turn it down until you get spatter, then turn it up a couple. |
