I am learning to weld, and i SUCK

i have a Century Mig Welder with Tri-Mix Gas

I get huge amounts of spatter and i can't carry a beam for ----, I get a really spotty weld,

what could be causing this? The Wire i am using, the gas, or just a really shitty welder?

What are you welding?

What are your settings?

What does your Tri-Mix gas really consist of? Too Little Argon, Lots of Splater, Too Much, Worse Penetration with a smaler machine.

What Wire Diameter?

How are you prepping the metal?

 

You may be traveling too fast to carry a puddle along with you. Too much spatter could be from having too much or too little wirespeed, as well as too much or too little heat.
