Welding onto turbo exhaust housing.

Hey will i cause any problems by tacking (MIG) 2 nuts onto the scroll of my exhaust housing? Iam making up a heat shield and bolting it straight onto the housing seems the easiest as im pressed for room. It will be under ---- all load. It seems my engine bay got hot enough to set my firewall carpet a light lol. cheers

If your cathing ---- on fire your better off getting a turbo blanket.

----, he needs to get a fire blanket too and put that under the carpet on the interior.
Temp solution - raise up the rear of the hood a little with some washers/nuts to let some of the hot air out and bring the temps down a little.

yes you can. will work even better if you heat the housing up first, weld it, then let it cool on its own.

Monster D forgot to capitalize, insert commas, a couple of apostrophes, and periods. You sir, have failed more than Punka.

What was wrong with my comment? Im from NewZealand if that comment was for me. I welded the nuts on after heating it up, i also folded up a sheet metal shield. Works a treat now.

if you can get ahold of a stick welder, that would be the best. Use nickel rod and pre heat it and that ---- won't ever break off!

Re: Welding onto turbo exhaust housing.

Plenty of nogs here have welded right to cast manifolds, usually the 96+ dx/lx mani to a T3 flange. I don't hear them breaking, and they are under lots of stress. 2 bolts that simply hold a heat sheild shouldn't be an issue. They will move nearly freely if the housing flexes/changes size any bit from heat.

btw this isn't on hooked-on-phonics's list of recommended websites, so there will be grammer & spelling errors. If we help ppl up to their standards, 99.91% of the retards that post here would be SOL. That reminds me, what happened to that guy who literally couldn't make complete sentances? The guy who's retardation made half his stuff guberish...? He was a "treat". O0
