or a mig, or a tig, or a torch.

doesnt really matter all welding works the same way, melts the metal, and mixes a filler in, it has some sort of flux, and once done (correctly) is very strong.

btw a large mig will burn that together very nicely, just pre heat and post heat.

high nickle filler is only needed when welding cast IRON...... not cast steel

You'd be better off with a tig torch and some ER70S.

If your instructor tells you to weld that with a stick rod, he's a moron. SPatter on the turbine wheel will drastically reduce its lifespan. haha!!

preheat with a torch, weld with a mig, then dip in a bucket of sand (construction) so it cools down evenly and doesnt crack.

Looks good, I'm always confused on the welding of "cast" I would imagine the turbine housing is cast steel? I have always had good luck welding them and factory cast turbo manifolds.

Now other things which are much more grainy and brittle I assume are cast iron?? I never have any good luck welding. I have tried it with 70 and 308 and 309 and it always breaks right off below the weld.

from what I was told you need a realy soft rod for the cast(porus)material.
the rod used is 55% or grater content of nickle
also caled NI rod.
welded on a dc stick welder at 70amp amazing weld and very very strong

Nickel rod is used on cast iron. Cast steel can be welded with ER70S-2 and a TIG.
