|

jbweld it or weld it, it will be fine
|
Re: welding bov to ebay cai
i got a 2 peice one and welded them together and then welded the bov flange on. They welded together fine but i just tacked the bov flange on since it caught on fire both times i welded it (yes, it caught fire, it was reddish purple, and yes it was an Ebay bov) i used a Mig welder with an aluminum gun from school
anyways it ended up being jb welded |
Re: welding bov to ebay cai

Re: welding bov to ebay cai
if it's the kinda ebay CAI I'm thinking of it's probably not even aluminum, it may be plastic....?
|
Re: welding bov to ebay cai
I have an eBay CAI sitting around and I was thinking of doing the same thing if I end up not having enough money for some good charge piping. Can I JUST jbweld it or does it actually need to be welded up the right way?
|
Re: welding bov to ebay cai
JB weld will work if you do a good job applying it.
|
Re: welding bov to ebay cai
alright is there any other options for charge piping besides the PVC trick? Is there any sort of tubing that is flexible that would work? Kinda like radiator hose but only bigger and more flexible?
Sorry to thread jack by the way...just thought this was a good time to ask that... |
Re: welding bov to ebay cai
Worst case just get some crsuh bent pipes from your local shitzone parts store as you can usuall find something close.Racing solutions has some killer deals on intercooler building kits right now though at 35 for 4 bends enough to do the charge piping.

Re: welding bov to ebay cai
well I have that CAI I can use up top. I was just looking for something to bend from the CAI, to the IC and from the IC to the turbo.

Re: welding bov to ebay cai
You could try some of that flexable pipe used for exhaust repair it should work if your rocking the Mr Noodles budget for this.I used some briefly on a old setup and it seemed to hold fine for low boost like 6 psi.

On the other posts you made: Just get some pipes and couplers. They really are not that expensive. Buy some bends from discreteautoparts.com (sp?), they are dirt cheap. It will cost you almost as much in PVC. |

Re: welding bov to ebay cai
Ok Im looking at buying a new cheap ass 1 pc CAI off eBay and using it for the top part of the charge piping now. I just want to verify that JB Weld will hold the flange for the BOV on w/ any trouble? And what are you guys using after the CAI to route it to the IC and then from the IC to the turbo? I was thinking about something like what stock GST's have. Any idea's? Oh and is a 3" CAI to big for that part of the charge piping? It's the only one pc CAI intake I can find for my car. lol If any of you have pics of your CAI being used as charge piping...please post them up. I don't want to buy the CAI until I know for sure that it will work great. Thanks
