so. what were you trying to make with the tubing?
oh that was just spare IC pipes i had laying around. so i was just practicing.
however i plan on welding all my IC piping up and i have to fix a broken distributor as well. |
sounds like fun. good luck.
thanks dude.
spool gun?
spool gun what?
you dont use them in oxy. |
Im a welder by trade, welding aluminum with OA is very very difficult He is not hammering the weld he is peeing it. It has to be hit at a certain temperature to relief stress out of the weld to keep the weld from cracking. Just hope you did more research than watching a simple how to video, dont want you wasting your money. Also alot of tigs dont just run on 220, there also 110.

Look up the Dillon,Henrob Amweld 2000 Oxy Welder, these are the go for that type of work, even Ron Fournier of HP Books welding and fabrication series fame rates them, awesome plasma like oxy cutting abilities as well, and this comes from someone who owns Miller and Kempi Tigs not cheap chinese rubbish, and yes Millers are over twice as expensive in Australia as in the US for any given model so I do appreciate just how good a welder is and value it accordingly, these torches make welding allor with Oxy gas Mixtures much easier, the best combo is actually Oxy Hydrogen rather than Oxy Acetylene for Aluminium welding but these torches do a pretty fine job even with Oxy Acetylene.
ill definitely keep my tig welder. oxy/acetylene is very dangerous and in most cases if there is an explosion, your insurance company will not cover you.
if there is an explosion you won't be around to worry about it.i use a lincoln precision tig for all my aluminum welding.i have mig and stick and oxt acet but the tig is the best by far.aluminum must be spotlessly clean inside and out before welding .it is the oxidation that causes the difficulty in welding.it must be cleaned seconds before you weld it for the best results.use a stainless brush that has only been used for aluminum to avoid contamination.also can be wiped afterwords with alcohol to clean the pores of the metal.it takes alot of practice to get it right.
