Welder help please
 

i want to get a welder not for a lot of use but for welding exhaust parts and some fabrication. i dont know what im doing yet in terms of buying a welder i just need to know if this will get the job done or if anyone has experience with it. again not looking for a shop welder just a home welder for my own projects exhaust work and some custom fab.

well that was for the harbor freight 151 flux/mig welder it was for a 220 circuit so i just bought the ceap fluxcore welder from them the "easy mig" it was 99 dollars on sale here. i just want to weld exhaust stuff/ misc. fab. i tried it and it seems to be doing its job i think if i can find a dedicated 110 in the house i will be more impressed.. i didnt know the link wasnt working i guess thats why no one wrote anything? im used to "get a rope the link doesnt work" around here.

I've had no problems with flux-core on any of my welding projects. In fact, as of late I've been using mostly flux just because the price of argon by me is super-expensive. Just make sure your amperage setting is good and your wire speed matches to it and clean your welds every inch or so and flux will do just fine. Look at my log manifold that's lower down...the entire thing was done in flux-core.

ya ive just been practicing with the flux lately i thought the only big difference between flux and mig is that flux leaves more slag and the settings are more crucial?

have any of you welded stainless exhaust with flux? i want to weld my stainless exhaust together and i heard that flux will work but be shitty anyone with experience? also what settings should i run for stainless vs. others how do you know where to set that ----.

my welders pretty limited just min and max min(60amps) max (80amps) and a wire speed of 1-10 help me guys i dont know what settings to use

slo crx that mani looks sweet for the cheap how long have you been using flux core any problems with the welds breaking

I've been using flux-core for almost 3 years out of my newer welder...it's a Lincoln weldpack 3500HD, and does both mig and flux. Never had any problems with the welds cracking or breaking...only time i ever had a manifold break it was because the material I used was too thin and ripped through the steel. The welds held perfect though. Even my home made front crossmember that you can sorta see in the pic was flux'd, and it's survived 4500 rpm launches without breaking or bending.
