http://cgi.ebay.com/HOBART-HANDLER-1...QQcmdZViewItem

welding with gas ofcourse, will it work for making engine mounts and a manifold for my 300zx engien into s13 240sx swap? it says it can weld up to 1/4 inch. Im looking for a mig welder taht is good enough to do it but i cant seem to find one good enough, if someone knows what one they would use or would recomend and let me know that would be great, thanks.

Nice welder, I got my thermal arc from IOC, they shipped it out fast.

But you can probably find that same welder/cart setup local for the same price. I know Rural King stores sell it for $499+tax so you might want to do some checking. Buy local is nice for stuff like this. I tried to get my thermal arc local but nobody would even get close to IOC's price. Plus if need be I could drive to them in a few hours.

It will struggle having enough power to weld 1/4" material, but it will get the job done with the proper weld prep.

I'd reccomend that you spend a little more and get the 170 (maybe 180, I forget which the next model up is). It has more amperage and will weld these things a bit easier. The hobart machines are pretty good machines.

for mounts and a manifold you cant go wrong with this welder, as long as everything is prepped (cleaned) joints flush together etc etc

This is the welder that I recently bought and I'm happy with it. I had a cart, bottle and flowmeter already. Beveling the edges on 1/8" and thicker material works the best. I can't comment on the price but I will say buy loca,l if you can get a similar or slightly higher price. I'd think it would be less headache if there's a problem.

My mistake guys....I didn't read it well. For some reason, I had it in my head that the 140's didn't have gas capability.

If I was buying a small mig, I'd likely go with a Hobart. You get what you pay for...and this is not a $3000 tig machine... it is what it is... a relatively cheap mig machine. However, it is a quality built machine that will give years of service, and part availability won't be a problem.

Yes, it has the gas solenoid already installed and the gauge style flowmeter is included in a little cardboard box. I already had a floating ball flowmeter from a previous welder so I just used it and kept the other one in the box. I prefer the ball meter over the gauge meter.
