making this for a buddy and have to have it done soon, been a real lazy O0. gonna use this thread as motivation to get it done by next week. its for a 85 240 or something wagon. this is the first turbo manifold ive made and first time welding stainless really. I HATE cutting collectors now.

and the beast thats going on it.

its twinscroll for the hx35, the friend im making it for is putting in a built motor (2.3) and has a 100shot on top of the turbo to get it goin fast. hes shooting on having the fastest wagon on the west coast and the record right now is like 11.8 or something.

my next project is for my corolla, got my flanges from SLS, t4 twinscroll and gonna put a bw s360 on it most likely, maybe keep it smaller and use a s256 but who knows. im planning on using the full-race turbos cause there both t4 and if i end up buying the s256 now i can just bolt on the s360 later if its not enough for me or i really build the motor.

nice lookn' stuff. It seems hard to beleive that there isn't a wagon doing better than 11.8, but who knows.

How does the whole twin scroll thing work?

umm ok. so you don't know either but making a smart ass remark. lol I love it.

to answer the question though. it helps by mean's of exhaust scavenging. a 4 cylinders firing order is 1,3,4,2 so you pick runers that are 360's out of faze from each other(crank shaft degree's) in this case its cylinders 1 and 4 and cylinders 2 and 3. what happens is when cylinder 1 fires it pulles a negative pulse on cylinder 4 which helps evacuate the cylinder to get a better fuel charge without contamination. this happens every time the engine fires. so basically it helps increase the engines efficency which helps the turbo spool faster and you have less back pressure as well. since it does help with spooling you can typically go larger on the exhaust housing to help lower back pressure more to make bigger hp numbers up top without much of a loss on boost response.

Sounds badass, how complicated is it to set up? Or more expensive to do?

You need 2 waste gates.

not entirely true. as long as you keep both pipes divided all the way to the wastegate valve you can run a single gate. the manifold I built for my cousin is only using a single 44mm wastegate and its divided all the way to the valve within .050". it will hold a rock solid 15lbs on a 1 bar spring all the way to 9200rpms 450whp.

Twin wastegates aren't necessary, but how else are you supposed to do this? :6

Beautiful Colin, you guys may have to break this down barney style for me. I looked around a bit last night and understand how it works and what it does just not so clear on how the setup goes.
