Using Google SketchUp for modeling a manifold
Figured some of you might be interested in this. Google introduced a sketching program a while ago. I've used it for a few different projects and was curious what it could do. The other night I got bored and tried to see what it was actually capable. So I modeled some weld ELs in it. Grabbed a B-series exhaust manifold flange and T3 flange of www.t3flange.com. It's not the easiest or greatest program in the world, but works well enough to give you an idea what you can and can't do. What kind of bends might need to be cheated. That kind of idea. For a free program, it's pretty solid.

Re: Using Google SketchUp for modeling a manifold
So that's how SSauto designed their famous manifold :P
Looks very nice though for a free program. |
Re: Using Google SketchUp for modeling a manifold
yeah pretty cool
i also got another one off of www.emachineshop.com |
Re: Using Google SketchUp for modeling a manifold
On my other computer before it died, I downloaded a torrent of SketchUp Pro. I only played with it for a bit and I didn't really notice anything that set the two programs apart but getting the link for the download, I noticed SketchUp introduced a new "layout" option that looks pretty tits.
Either way, Google>The World. I regret every day not buying Google's stock the second it went public. |

Re: Using Google SketchUp for modeling a manifold
Did you import a D-series flange? That looks pretty solid. You might want to try to make them intersect a little better but overall tits.
PS: The collector is really short. Making it longer wouldn't be a bad idea either. |
Re: Using Google SketchUp for modeling a manifold
I forgot to add a waste gate flange but thats what Im making soon.
just need a t3 and 38mm flange |
Re: Using Google SketchUp for modeling a manifold
Another real-deal CAD program is Alibre... beats the pants off of Sketch-up or anything else for that matter (for free)
http://www.alibre.com/xpress/softwar...ign-xpress.asp Another option is Autodesk Inventor LT... it's still in beta and free... http://labs.autodesk.com/technologies/inventor_lt/ |
Re: Using Google SketchUp for modeling a manifold
I'd rather just go into the garage and do it for real.
