turbo manifold crack

2 Attachment(s)
My mani has a crack, I want to keep it since I got it really cheap. My neighbor welds on a daily basis for his work and said he would do the work for me. Whats the best way going about fixing the crack? Also I wanted to reinforce the manifold while he is at it and wanted to know the best way to do that also. Here is a pic of the manifold, dont have a pic of the crack atm.

rockin the CDM? i would weld the crack then put another brace from the turbo to manifold flange on the bottom. besides heat cycling whats causing cracks is that when that thing is getting hot its actually trying to pull away from the motor. the pipes dont usually crack but the welds dont like it. as far as welding it tell the guy to take his time pre heat it and post heat it and cool it down slow. I usually take manifolds like that and send them off to my heat treater where they get them glowing and bury them in casting sand that way it cools super slow and any stresses are gone in the metal

hahahahhaah i should have put that together =)

well the guy i bought it off of said is custom built. Used to have a metal tag welded on that matches the custom downpipe, so iino. Got the turbo, manifold, bov, and dp for $100 so hell of a deal. Hopefully it will hold up.

Looks like a Mitsu 2.75" Inlet cover found on some 20G's but that is ONLY a guess. A good turbo machinist can swap the covers around, so it might only be the cover on a more standard center section like a Garrett or Turbonetics...
