stock ka24de manifold

has anyone used or scene a stock ka24de manifold used as a turbo mani i've seen the sohc manifold used but they are two very diferent manifolds anyways if u guys have seen one or have pictures of it let me know

croninc 06-25-2009 04:39 PM

If you dont know what you are doing you might as well just buy a turbo mani for your appliction.

^+1

But if you want to i would just make a flange off the header and back into the bay for the turbo.

turbof22a 06-26-2009 12:11 AM

i dont understand what every one thinks is so hard about how to mount a turbo

plpz2104 06-26-2009 12:20 AM

not that its hard to mount a turbo just wanted to see if anyones dohc ka manifold modified it to work u've probably never seen an dohc ka24de manifold before its not a log type all 4 collectors don't merge together

turbof22a 06-26-2009 12:22 AM

so whats the problem if its not hard why the questions?

plpz2104 06-26-2009 12:28 AM

well if u don't have a picture or answer for the queston then don't reply simple as that and i could just chop off manifold flange and put a turbo flange on there but i'm lookin to see if i can do a top mount set up

turbof22a 06-26-2009 12:32 AM

then buy a top mount manifold or make one you dumb ----. jesus the manifold is litterally the easiest thing about turboing a car. what are you going to do about the pcv system and the oil lines and fuel/timing management. your in for a whole lot of ----, and i have a feeling if you dont know what to do about a manifold then you will have no i diea what to do about those things i mentioned.GOOD LUCK THOUGH

plpz2104 06-26-2009 12:39 AM

well lets see for fuel and timing and management im gonna get an emance tune or jwt im gonna use 370cc injectors from a sr20 a walbro 255 fuel pump z32 maf and oil lines can be made easily and im gonna use an oilfilter sandwhich plate im gonna run the coolant lines off my intake manifold i know what im gonna do and i have all these things minus the emance tune but thanks for ur concern as far as u helping me u didn't but thanks anyways

turbof22a 06-26-2009 12:41 AM

well like i said good luck cant wait to see how this turns out

nelson8708 06-26-2009 06:04 AM

if your going to get a tuned ecu dont bother with the 370's....they'll max out around the same time as the stock mafs. Go with atleast 550's if you go with the z32 this way when the boost bug bites you can up the boost and have the fuel to back it up.

Speed_Unleashed 06-27-2009 05:20 PM

its way easyer to buy one allready made or make one....i dont recomend choping a stock one because if u plan just to chop the and weld a flang for the turbo, it will be 2 low...and if you plan on choping the flango to the head well thats just a waste of time because u deed everything else still....so cheapest way to go is ebay...or if u want somehting nice then make one, have one made or buy from someone respectfull

Oxide_Zer0yome 06-28-2009 04:44 PM

why would it be too low?? Thats what i'm doing on my suzuki esteem project. My question to the OP tho is why not buy a ka24de manifold. if u want a top mount then try and make one it's no big deal really. good luck with whatever you end up doing.

what turbo are you going with?? that'll make all the difference on what set up to run.

for the oil drain. you can use a pump for a low mounted turbo then thats another $100 min your out of by trying to be cheap at which point might as well just get an egay cast or fab one your self

Oxide_Zer0yome 06-29-2009 11:32 AM

the constantly flow of oil will force it out the return...ive done this one before lol but not on a ka24 but still

2BarRacing 07-02-2009 04:51 AM

well ---- then why do we even run oil returns. last time i checked oil returns were "gravity" fed or if its lower than the pan or remote mount its got a scavange pump. but ---- next turbo project you have run the return hose up and over the valve cover into the interior of the car and into your ass se how much the oil wants to force its way in there. i would say smart ass but more like slick ass

Oxide_Zer0yome 07-02-2009 11:16 AM

if he's barely extending it down he shouldnt have an issue...if u run it behind the head light then u'll need a pump. yea its gravity fed, but he's not saying the turbo's gonna be lower then the pan

Oxide_Zer0yome 07-02-2009 11:19 AM

he's talking about it being like 4" lower then a "stock" location it SHOULD drain fine and gravity feed should work. Unless he is remotely mounting it...
