Im using a lincoln 235 tig, 1/16" 2% thoriated tungsten After about 15 minutes of practice, I layed down some fairly nice beads.I actually like it more than steel as its easier to see the puddle and droop. Im going to be practicing alot, I hope to get REALLY good. I did get a bit cocky and and took the glove off wire feed hand. Well lets just say I had the shakes for a couple hours after that. :7 http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d4...horelys004.jpg Any tips, suggestion, etc for tigging aluminum. |

I prefer to up the hertz and turn up the heat all the way and use the pedal. I am actually also going to start using my pulser.

yeah no gloves on ac with constant high freq = a bad spark plug wire at 6000rpm, not fun. one guy always had the tortch lead running up his arm and over his shoulder, that is untill he tried ac one time and get some nice little zaps. also are you getting penatration on that peice?

I too like Aluminum.... though much more of a chalange at first, once you master it, it becomes way much easier to weld nicely....
now if you weld up some nice "Droolbuckets" and polish them up, you don't even need bling on your car, to make people drool..... ;D |
Re: Started Tig Welding Aluminum.
in that one pic it shows that crater crack at the end, you need to slooooowly back off the pedal while adding to prevent that dimple
