i have herd alot about this unit... and was wondering why doesnt it do Aluminum from what i read in a post awhile ago it wont do Aluminum right... i am looking at Tigs but i wont 1 that does aluminum but yet i have herd such great reviews of Smiley Welders... just looking for more info... also where is the best place to purchase a smiley welder...

Not to be an *** but i do use the search here on HMT... i hate the searchj engine because every time i use it usless crap comes up for pages at a time... i think we need to redue the search engine so that it comes up the topic not the word in the sentence that everyone uses... i have found that they will do aluminum but there is an AC/DC and just a DC... the thing is witch 1 is better...

 

ok well you need a ac to do aluminum the smiley MTC 160 is dc, there are chinese smiley style welders that do ac/dc but im not sure what they are called. and i dont think they have the plasma cut feature. but if ur a first time welder, smiley all the way i was laying down some nice clean beads my first day.

 

that ------- search engine sux! i like type in something vaugue and like these posts come up that id have to read to find the answer like more than one of them too! why cant it jsut find the exact post im looking for right away that has everything i need in the first scentence.

im gonna be an ***, take a few ------- days and actually learn the theory of how to weld. ---- this same queston comes up constantly.

What the hell are you talking about the Theory of how to weld... i didnt say i couldnt weld i said im looking at buying a Tig that can do aluminum... i have been welding Mig and just wont to move up to a Tig... i have herd so much of Smiley but i am hearing 2 story's about them doing Aluminum... if i buy a Tig i wont a Good 1 that will weld Aluminum also...

funny when i typed in the word "smiley" i got 7 ------- pages... amazingly i recognized several threads that answer your stupid question.

why dont you take an hour out of your life drive your *** down to a barnes and noble or sumthing pick up one of those "learn how to weld you retard" books grab a coffe and read. you dont even have to buy it, then you wont have to ask questions, youll already know.
