Simulation tig. My first Arc welds.
Please dont flame as these are my first Arc welds and I'm not a pro. So if you have nothing nice to say then dont say it at all.
Since I'm waiting for Argon and my manifold parts I decided it would be a good idea to practice some Arc welding with some All purpose electrodes I bought.
I tried to run a bead but it would just spatter and look like crap so I thought I'd try to simulate a tig weld by making close spot welds while still trying to get some penetration.
This was the end result. Seems to be getting really good penetration too.
Like I said, I'm a noob so dont flame.

I'll have more pics tonight of stuff welded together.
EDIT: I like this stuff, it has low odor and I can weld in my basement with the windows open and its fine.

There's not much good to say about it, but that's par for the course for early welders.
That said, quit playing the foot pedal like it's a bass drum. You should use it to ADJUST amperage, not to flip it off and on like a switch.

I don't know ---- about welding but a good welder once told me that a good weld looks like a bunch of dimes overlapping each other closely.
What you have seems to be a stack of nickels barely overlapping :P
Better than what I can do with an arc welder though...so good for you.

Yeah if you put them closer together then you would have better penetration. If you use that weld to hold somthing together it would crack for lack of penetration. It must go through the backside of the base metal.

Yeah arc welding is harder than Mig. I havent got a chance to put any metal together yet, but what is the strategy here? Do I hold down the button/pedal or is there another method?

You shouldn't be using any button or pedal for STICK welding... "arc welding" can describe several processes, not just stick welding.
