Removing rubber
What is the best way to get rubber out of an old mount.
I'm trying the whole manual force thing, but I'm thinking some raw fire could do a bit better job than I could. |
Re: Removing rubber
yeah burn that ---- out is the best was

Re: Removing rubber
torch FTW! or Just buy a new mount
|
Re: Removing rubber
buying is out of the question.
I have 8 inches of rock hard Delrin waiting and ready to slide in some pipe. It's either make new, or cut up my old ones, and I just ordered some steel to make new. |
Re: Removing rubber
why not just fill that bitch with window weld
|
Re: Removing rubber
I did that and it sucked. The mount had been sitting on my desk for like 4 months and I pealed the window weld out and it was still wet on the inside. Plus all of my other mounts are shot and it's either buy new mounts at 30 something a piece, or make some.

Re: Removing rubber
dont be a bitch. use hockey pucks for the filler of the mounts. also i think its phill stubbs or weir that can get a hold of polyurethane filer custom cut to go into mounts to take place of the factory rubber and not just inserts. i will try to find the thread about it

Re: Removing rubber
ok i looked around for the thread, but could not find it at all. it was some noob asking about how to make custom mounts and either phill stubbs or weir offered to make him solid inserts that replaces the rubber for his factory mounts out of 101a or 95a urethane. i think it was stubbs that offered it.

Re: Removing rubber
I have a 3" dia 8" long rod of delrin. I can cut it and drill holes in it. I don't need to pay them to do that for me :P
