Yeah bandsaw FTW.

most chops saws are pretty much the same, so I wouldn't spend a shitton of money on a DeWalt even though they're really nice.

While YOU don't want a harbour freight, they do great work....

Got the $139 deally for $99...Whacks through pipe no problemo.....

But I would get a bandsaw instead if I had the money!

I got the $169 milwaukee for $116 :P They found a 2yr old package hidden in the overhead, clearanced 2yrs ago, so I snatched it up. Very sturdy, cuts through sch40 2" pipe pretty well. We also use the same one at work w/a $500 (I ---- you not) carbide saw for aluminum-only. Used all the time for 4" Al. blocks, still going after a few years.

the thing I have against cheap tools is replacing them. I dont like replacing tools, so, I buy good stuff the first time around. When I finally have a garage I plan on getting a bandsaw, only it will be a liquid cooled wellsaw model 8.

Chopsaw or bandsaw. I'd take the bandsaw just for the cleaner cuts and not all the fireworks. I've had my HF 14" chopsaw for 3 years and never had a problem with it whatsoever. I've cut through some beefy ---- like stock cast manifolds and other ----. Works nice as a grinder also :6

HAHA. I thought I was the only one who used my chopsaw as a grinder. I bought some clearance thick cutoff wheels, and when I cut my manifold pieces, I left them clamped, locked the trigger, and chained the chopsaw down... eventually after 10 minutes or so, they were square. :1

I use it as a grinder cause after using the chopsaw it leaves alot of rough edges and metal hangnail thingies. Next thing for me is a nice band saw.

I have not used my chop saw in over a year, I would take the money and get a 4*6 bandsaw and a couple 4.5" grinders. I have the cheap red one from harbor freight (I had a HF green one but it was getting close to the end of my 2 year warranty so I swapped it out for a new one) and it just like my old green one works great. Sure it is not the best, but for the money you can't go wrong. Plus you get a new one every two years for $38 ;)
I bet my bandsaw averages a good 3 or so hours of runtime a day.
