Rate mah welds! Oh and Hi I'm newish here.

Yes I am in fact the worst photographer in the history of man kind. You get the idea. Tell me what you think from what you can see through the blur.

Root pass. No you can't see ---- but that it's golden colored.

It's full penetration. At least you can tell it's not sugared :P

Cover pass.

1 in thick heatsinks are sweet and you know it.

Just building this stuff for a buddy.

hahaha I actually knew that was going to be said. I deleted a sentence at the end that said "I have no interest in making manifolds for anybody but close, local friends so don't goddamn ------- pm me" because I didn't want to be to cocky :6

Welding ornemental iron pays better anyway.

Don't ever dab stainless. Just leave it in the puddle and weave freehand or walk the cup.

These were done weaving free hand as I still suck at walking the cup around a pipe in a straight line.

yeah I was actually. Ive been on most honda boards from time to time. I met gm ecm Sean a few times and helped him take his engine out. Pretty cool guy. Is he still around there?

sean is long gone on both here and 3geez. Really knowledgeable guy but alot of the stuff he was saying was over most peoples heads so he doesnt come around much at all. I should make more power on my new engine then he did with his though lol

so yo weld the pipes together and then go over your welds to make them look pretty, i never thought of that thats why all of ur guys welds look mint.

and ya ur a miserable photographer.

yea one more thing how do you get it so after ur done welding my welds have a bunch of black ---- on them, ive seen other peoples welds they look perfectly clean and they still have the crazy clouration,

No I don't do a cheater pass to make it look pretty. I do a root pass that gets full penetration and only fills the bevel about half way up. After that cools down I make another pass with filler to fill in the rest of the bevel. If I had done a cheater pass ( pulsing it while making circles with no filler) it would have been the 3rd pass not the second.

So in short no I don't do cheater passes.

Here I stole one of Engloids pics to show what I mean. I hope he doesnt mind. *crosses fingers*

The weld on the top is the root pass that is done first. Notice how it doesn't consume the bevels. It's there to get full penetration. The weld below it is the cover pass that fills in the rest of the bevel. Hopefully that clears things up for you a little bit.

It was actually a huge compliment that you thought I did a cheater pass. So thanks ;D

Lol you guys should hear sean in real life. He tried to explain the gm ecm to me once and at the same time show me every goddamn feature in the tuner cat sofware. I had a headache for days :P

Based on your fuzzy pics, I'd have to think that you're not looking in the right places for work or you'd find something to pay you better than ornamental iron.

How about some better pics?

Oh, and for those that wonder about the pic of my weld... The reason there's some trashy looking stuff along the edges of the weld is because this is not your average stainless steel. It's an alloy called 254SMO, or AX6XN. It's welded with hastelloy filler wire. There's a high nickel content, which makes it pretty difficult to weld. With your average 300 series stainless, you shouldn't have this trashy stuff on the weld.

I meant better than making manifolds for turbo hondas. It's just a small business I run with my dad. It pays the bills.

I'm working on getting some less shitty pics. Probably when I'm all done with everything.
