so, i'm working as a QC/QA at a chemical plant, there's not much going on so i am playing welder/welders helper. basically hangin out in the shop doing ---- all.
they have this ---- called Alloy 20, a 4" sch40 pipe is worth $1000/foot.

i'd say this is about $600 worth of pipe that i fucked up.
it's kinda different to weld too, sorta like stainless but different.

trying to do a fill/cap in one pass. ya i burned the ---- out of it, hahahaha.
it was sugared to ---- inside, i didn't bother hooking up the purge lines, maybe on monday i'll do a root and purge it.

sort of, it's not quite as 'dirty' as inconel or incalloy.

that is mucho expensive too MAS PASOES :8 :8 so is it light ass hell dose it take mucho grande temperature to get it humping and jumping when welding?

its incredibly resistant to corrosion.

its a "super stainless" steel

we're putting it in a process section of the plant that handles a chemical that is incredibly reactive, flammable when contact with air, and explosive when contact water.

nope. they make Linear Alpha Olefins

hexene, decene, octene, dodecene, etc. etc. it's all on their website if you're interested. www.ineos.com

ya downtown is paying 200 a ton know just for prepared steal, use to be only 60$ a ton when i worked there two summers ago pretty sure it still was just a bit ago too. basically you would get a bomb ass paycheck taking in a foot of that pipe lol. you guys get people ever stealing scrap pieces of metal from there?

i'm not working on that site anymore, i'm working at a different one now. i should upload some of my pics of government projects from this site, i've had a lot of time to build ----, i'm actually running out of ideas of what to make

yeah, i guess. it's the same as anything else in industry though, if you ---- up people die. thats why alberta pressure welders make $100+/hr i guess. lol

some kind of spear made out of re-bar that some pipefitter wanted me to build for him, then i ended up cutting it off cause it didn't work how he thought it would. i could have told him it wasn't gonna work, but i'm not paid to engineer ---- so i just build what i'm told and keep my mouth shut. haha

they were trying to pull some kind of scrubber or filter out of a vessel with it, i dunno exactly, i don't do the bitch work, i just build ----. heh
