Quick Dump tube question
I thought i'd find it in search but seems like something's wrong? nothing came up.
Anyways, when making your dump tubes what diameter piping do you guys use? and what thickness? I'm wondering if dump tubes are better off hot (thick walled tubing) or cool (thin wall). I know that who-gives-a------lets-jb-weld-it attitude is cool, but you guys know this ----! so for the sake of the question any helpful insight would be appreciated. Thanks in advance. |

Re: Quick Dump tube question
The function of the dumptube is primarily to displace the gases coming out of the wastegate to another place. It really isnt even a necessary part. You definately would want the air warmer for speed so it expels faster. However it doesnt really make much of a difference for a small 4 cyl turbo set up. Use whatever you have around, either 1.5 or 1 5/8" fits best.

Re: Quick Dump tube question
you can get away with using some half ass stuff for the dump tube because is only gets hot when it's dumping and it cools pretty fast. Plus it usually will only get hot close to the openin of the gate, or where ever there is a bend in the pipe. Just get some 1 1/2" pipe from advance auto or something. Works mint.

1.5, more important is where you run it.
