problem with my top mount manifold *pics*

ok, here is the problem... i'm not sure the best location for my wastegate on this manifold i just tacked together. i'm thinking either behind the rad and run a pipe out the engine side of the collector (would be a bitch to weld), or i can put it down beside the collector and run the downpipe behind the rad. i don't really have any other options as the charge pipe for the cold side will be on the driver's side of the mani.

cast a vote and let me know your thoughts.

here is the space:

here is the manifold:

here it is installed:

with the turbo:

http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f1...h/DSC04607.jpg

here is option #1 with a pipe that would run down in behind the turbo inbetween the collector and runners:
http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f1...h/DSC04608.jpg

here is option #2 with a pipe coming straight out of the collector and down(the dp would have to run behind the rad):

use your imagination for option #3.

I'd go with option 1. Along with that, I'd add that I would roll it over "right side up."

The drawback to that is that you will probably have to elbow up, into the bottom of the wastegate, then the outlet will need an elbow there also. One thing to keep in mind is that the flow reduction of having the two elbows won't have much affect, since it's just the wastegate and won't be flowing like a manifold runner would. The advantages of having it up top are that you will be able to get to it easier, and it gives the nice bling factor that people like and pay for.

I'd say put it by the rad but it seems like everyone else is going with hotrex's ass :P

put it next to the rad

just remember that if you want to sell it later, make sure to clear the clutch slave cylinder ;)

im sad, cuz thats an awesome ------ manifold. i wish there was enough room in my engine bay for a manifold like that

use the internal wastegate :P

I'd like to see a 3" dp on that. Gonna have to get creative with the mounting of the waste gate with a downpipe in there too. ???

Oh Aaron. I don't know where. I hate long Wastegate tubes like Hotrex's and #2, #1 is awkward but will work, but your WG will see alot of heat, and may lead to premature Diaphram failure, #3 is just riduculus and would be tight with any DP.

As for 3", i don't expect anyless. I know you can do it man, just what option is best?

I'm assuming that you are just going to buy a 5bolt flange and make your dp off of that. Maybe you can cut a hole in the flange where the internal gate passage was a come straight off of that. After it goes through the WG, it runs through a tube straight down , then turns back to meet up with the DP near the bottom of the block. Like running an internal gate, but using your external one. Might have to bore out the passage a little. Just a thought. Goodluck.

doesnt matter where you mount it, that 16ga is gonna break and drag on the ground anyhow. wny not tuck it up front inbetween the mani and the intercooler ?

Re: problem with my top mount manifold *pics*

16g wont beak. mine is gonna be a 16g sidewinder with 0lbs hanging off the manifold itself.

wow dude, that mani is sex. ------- gorgeous. you got mad skills at that. you wanna build me one? oh, i have no clue where you are going to mount that ----, it looks easier to run a internal with that but i don't know much about the turbos themselves so i can't really be trusted with my info. good job though.
