Post crash hmt rebuild
 

Ok, I must fix this like a big boy since I broke it. I have 3 options

1. part the turbo kit, sell the car for a civic B18 swap and use money to buy chrstmas gifts to initiate turbo bike build.
2. OEM style rebuild (pic 1) find a donor car, sawsall remove front fascia and weld it back on my baby (I dont know, look on the green spot, upper frame rail is touched, I dont know how to proceed)
3. HMT style rebuild (pic 2) cut everything, fabricate blue structure, bolts headlights on it (hope they're not too much cross-side), put hood pins. Can the red boxes be cut, they dont hold anything dont they?

Seriously, I don't know what to do, I don't want to sell and part out yet. Anyone familair with this willing to coach me a little?

it doesn't look that bad. you could probably get away with just straightening most of it out. i'd look further back on the frame rails to make sure there are no kinks anywhere that could lead to further problems in a harder crash.

You know what.. I cut the radiator support off a Civic to fix mine, and if I were to do it all again I would probably rather custom fab up a tube front end and make things fit. I didn't have much luck getting the new stuff to line up right. My frame is tweaked most likely. Get yours checked out.

thats an easy fix, drill the spot welds on that rad suppot and buy a new one for 125 dollars and tack weld it back on

I would first get someone to make sure the frame rails aren't fucked further back in the frame. If there is no bends, and the car still drives straight, you are probably fine.

If it were me, I would get another front piece, bolt it up, then weld it in.

That part you have circled as the "frame" is not very strong. You can easily pound it straight with a little mallet.

Drill out your spot welds on the radiator support and bang that bitch off. Thats going to take some time, but its not a big deal. You can order an entire new one off ebay for like $125 like the guy above said, and just bolt/weld the new one on. When I had a front end accident it bent the driver side frame rail inward about 2 inches. Good ole sledgehammer straightened that right out, and it still drove straight and true after. The only problem you would have would be if it was bent behind the suspension component attachments. Just fix that bitch. You can get the other parts for cheap new too, or even cheaper used.

Happy to know that a "radiator support" is replaceable. I got in touch with a guy that has a shell to part, Sawzall carnage coming.

Frame rails are OK so, should be rolling soon. I'll post a few pics to help anyone that ends up like me.

drill or grind the core support off... at spot welds


bend the tabs back straigh, but some good welds down... and have fun!

How did this work out for you? ---- i cant weld and i have replaced a few rad suports with drywall screws and some nuts and bolts. kinda getto but ---- works. done a 95 prelude and 95 civic this way and i was wonder how your way came out O0
