pie cut manifold

ive been lurking for awhile, but i guess this is my first post....

im building a 4agte for my mr2, but im using a k03 turbo, from an audi....

im on a college budget, so i browsed around, and figured that this was actually cheaper than buying some els and making a log manifold...this was the best bang for my buck....this is my first forray into this kind of fab, so its not wier tech sexy, but ive totaly seen uglier....enjoy

....simplest collector i could come up with, and still be able to get to the studs

Attachment 10462

then u bunch of grinding to fit the other two

Attachment 10463

Attachment 10464

Attachment 10465

cleaned up some slag, and glass beaded

Attachment 10466

i think i only spent like 50 bones on it....got the head flange from wiertech, the k03 flange for free from a friend, and the pipe from speedymetals.com

Re: pie cut manifold

i miss my old calculator, that ---- broke.

did you really need the calculator and protractor to make that shitty manifold?
looks decent for only costing $50

Re: pie cut manifold

meh, i used the calculator and protractor a few times...not alot....and i still have the little jig i set up, so when the time comes to build a nicer one, itll fit just the same....

its gonna get heat wrapped anyways, just so it doesnt look so ghetto to the untrained eye

This manifold looks funnier than a plumber mani ;D

I hope the outlet can give you enought flow! Good job tho!

What is funny about the Ti-83+ is the price. It was 130$ when I was in high school and now it still 130$. How can a calculator be the same price over 6 years? You can almost get a brand new computer at this price ;)

look up 'fencepost' by me, if you want to see 'pie cut manifold to the extreme'

Re: pie cut manifold

awesome, btw ti-89 owns all, symbolic representation of indefinite integration FTMFW

yeah, the impeller inlet is like, the same size as one exhaust port....so thats as big as it could get and still have room for the hardware..

You would not be saying that if you owned HP-50G. Best calculator I ever owned for Engineering and Physics classes already has all the equations for fluids, thermo, quantum mechanics, and circuits. Can use it to do ODEs and PDEs with ease. Can use a s-d card to load excel programs, games, notes for finals, and more equation/solver libraries.

Re: pie cut manifold

Is a TI-89 overkill for subtraction? ::) I just love it for the 30 stored solutions, cut/paste, and of course, "solve()". It was the best out there when I got it a decade ago.

stock 1.6L, k03 prolly a great match for it on a first project. atleast until it checks out like the gimp ass turbo it really is.

if its the k03aaa then its not too bad but if its just the staight up k03 like off the tt its no good

fatalmk1 02-03-2009 01:14 AM

Re: pie cut manifold

its the k03a...not one off those bi-turbo engines....i got it for like 30 bucks, and its got the same footprint as the k04, so when it starts choking, i can upgrade easily....hopefully by that time ill have stepped up to some better internals too
