ID changes between straight and bend, by varying amounts.

I think Cork-man's book discusses this, otherwise it was on the SDS site.

i think what is happening is pipe is getting confused with tubing, the 2 are completely different.

pipe IS measured in inner diameter, TUBING is measured in outer diameter. pipe and tubing are different. exhaust pipes are actually tubing and manifolds like this one or full race blah blah are plumbing pipe fittings.

you can tell me all you want that the diameter is not constant in pipe but everything i see says it is... since pipe is rated for a certain amount of flow of liquid. without proof on either side its just my word against yours so im not gonna argue it...

now in mandrell bent TUBE (like exhaust tubing) the ID does decrease on bends, as well as the OD. the measured OD of pipe is only what its speced at in the straigt sections.

I'm not confusing anything. I work with both every day and know the difference between them.
Nominally or 'approximately' (to quote your last web site) pipe is 'measured' or more acutely labeled by ID, but actually measured by OD and wall thickness. Different strengths or schedules of Pipe have the same OD, but different wall thicknesses and therefore different ID’s. Plus there is tolerances allowed for OD, wall thickness, and out of round. All of this can stack up causing the ID to be significantly off from what you would think.

If you don't believe me read up on ASTM standards, not Mcmaster Carr.

i see what your saying, but i think were calling the same thing different things... im thinking of the label say 1.5" but the actuall OD is 1.9 regardless of schedule... and the ID changes... im not arguing that all im saying is that for the same schedule, and pipe size the ID should be pretty damn close for the ID regardless of bend. basically a visible shift on the outside should indicate a visible shift on the inside. once again no biggie given the overall price/function of the manifold, im just defendeg that it COULD be improved.

dr boost, u said it right. now, who gives a ---- about wall thickness, inside and outside diameter, or any of that ----. the point is, the manifold will flow fine and make power.
