96-00 Explorer came 4.11 LSD with discs and 31 spline axles. Do it.

This is getting OT, but a writeup on how to cut an 8.8" down for a CRX is needed in this forum. :P

no other rear ends hanging around to test fit. i think the s14 is going to work well for fitment though... it is almost in just sorting out a few details. will post pics soon.

chop saw, ruler, welder, and OC

do you really need anything else to skinny up an axle?

the axle tubes can be narrowed easily, the axles should be done by a pro with the right tooling

anyone can shorten a solid rear axle, it's the weld quality and precision measurements, along with shortened axle shafts that make it worthwhile.

on a plus note, i've seen people make IRS based off of ford 9" and 8" centers

Way OT, but where is the timing belt on that engine? Is it in the back?

I'm a noob, I did a quick search and found it. Thats pretty cool it runs a timing chain instead of a belt. Anyways, back on topic. I want to see some Joe Dirt style burnouts with that bad boy!
