My mild steel manifold

This time the manifold build is just about done. In the pics its only tacked togother for fitment testing but i dropped it off today at my Dads house and hes going to weld it up this week so next weekend i should be putting it all togother. Hoping to get dyno tuned just after the new year..... Yes the manifold is made of mild steel and we cut the flange out of 1/2 mild steel (drill pressed holes).

Nothing wrong with mild steel manis. You will want to clean up the runner to mani connections on the inside so they have a smoother transition, and make sure the flange is still flat after he gets done welding.

yeah we will have to clean up those holes and clean up inside the large log when we cut it open for the collector flange. Should work nice those its just a small engine.

Alright all my test fitment has begun! I have a little bit of grinding left to do on the manifold inlet pipes and at the collector but all in all its almost done. I got my wastegate modified (extended arm, modified bracket) and have my oil line ready to go (oil inlet). Everything fits pretty nice with the exception of the wastegate bumping the crank position sensor but its no big deal. Heres a few pics im going to try to get the rest of the grinding done tonight/tommorow night and have it started this weekend (hopefully).

Thanks! Finished all my grinding last night so I'll start putting it back togother and add pics of the progress throughout the weekend. Lost my c-clip for the swingvalve so i gotta go get another one in the meantime.

Yeah awhile back i had to replace the cps it just kills the car. Its the actuators housing thats hitting the harness plugged into it and I've got it wrapped in tape. The previouus setup i ran the turbo sat sooo close it i thought it would be a problem. The only problem i had was after a year or so i had to replace it lol Now I got a spare...

Attachment 6682 Attachment 6683 http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f3...31-10_1747.jpg Not as much as i wanted to but the wastegate gave me more issues so i had to do some more fabricatin on it and i had to pull the radiator back out and mount the fan towards the other side to make room for the intake piping. I had another big project this weekend and that was installing some lights in the damn garage! I installed two 8ft double strip lights and used what used to be an outlet to install a double switch and ran all the wiring then patched the hole from it all. When i bought this house somebody had conveted the garage two a "two bedroom" with a bathroom ghetto style. I had to rip it all out so the garage has been in the works for awhile but its coming along. As soon as i can find my HMT stickers theirs one making its way under my hood =-) |

Got my exhaust downpipe welded with the 02 bung for the wideband today. Got it home wrapped it and installed it. Filled the car up with oil and started to put the charge piping back togother then remembered how much of a pain in the ass it is to do charge piping. I'll mess with it more when i have a chance this week but im soo damn close. I've even got the radiator hose i needed now.

Just make sure you weld the tubes to the flange from the outside and smooth-out/port the inside to match the exhaust ports on the head. Goes to show, it doesn't matter what something looks like from the outside, it's how well it functions that matters.:) |
Well I got it all back togother but i cant find my bluetooth adapter to put the pics up. All in all I think it looks really good for having done it all on my own. Had a few problems on initial startup like my malpassi rrfpr blew gas everywhere. Tightening down the bolts on it solved that problem, the i blew oil everywhere lol Fixed the oil leak and started with a coolant leak that i fixed as well. I'll go down this week to get my tag so i can take it to my dads to weld something like an exhaust on it. Its much louder than last time since the t3 flange is larger than the t25 flange and the downpipe is now 2.5 inch vs the old 2inch that was crushed to make the bend. The downpipe is to long and too close to the ground but i'll cut it off before i tag it. Had to use the wideband and adjust the idle a little bit as well. I'll try to get the pics up, I used my wifes phone b/c it takes much nicer pics than my phone.

Been trying to clean up the engine bay and touch it up with a bit of stainless braiding. Im nowheres near done but i got more wires tucked/loomed and few things stainless braided. Also got a laptop for tuning and finally got the emanage to connect to it last night (what a pain in the ass). Had the car up to 14psi the other night, what a ride! Kinda scary b/c the car is just too small......

Attachment 6463 It used to have a function now it doesnt. I didnt just throw it on there b/c i thought it was cool. I reallly need to get a boost controller but i've got it settle around 10-11lbs for right now and the water/meth injection starts about 9psi. The car always ran great before this build its just the turbo blew on the prior build and was a small pos. It did put down 190whp and 220lbs of torque on that setup (w/o water/meth). I anxious to see some #'s but the stupid emanage cable broke and i've got to make another one now. When i had the car running at 14psi the other day it was just nasty..... |
