my idea to modify my air compressor
ok so my air compressor is waaay to small. especially for my sandblaster
so i want to cut the tank open and insert a pieice of sheet metal and weld all the seams back up. giving it -???- extra cubic feet. anyone think it will work. or a bad idea. my worries are -the inside might rust from the OA welds. -the welds might not be able to hold 100 psi -maybe the motor cant do the job (overheat) - - |

ur welds better be perfict for that to work . and dont use light gauge metal. good luck no matter what u do . the first time u fill it stand way back and leave it full for like 3 days in a spot that wont hurt anyone .

this isent the first time someone has thought of this but your concerns are very legitimate and kev is right you better hope you have perfect welds to even attempt this, i'd recomend just finding a bigger tank and bolting the comppressor to it

bigger tank would make so much more sense. i think ill look for one. they are super cheap right.
|
it depends get on craigslist and hun for some tanks with bad cmmpressors people would more than likely just give it to you if not really cheap
|
Bigger tank will help, but how big is the compressor? It may take way too long to fill that thing up.
|
yea i actaully opted for a smaller tank on my cambell hausfield, but i have a 5hp motor on it so it fills really quick and stays filled

just run a second tank. i have hooked up multiple tanks to one compressor before when i needed more air. thats a lot easier and safer
