so far this project has cost me $17. scooter and engine were free and i had to buy fuel line, steel, and bolts. there are some traction problems with the clutch riding on the wheel. i am still working on that. i did the math and it should go 15mph or so. the math i did doesnt account for my weight. i also havent really been able to try it due to rain. hopefully it will stop raining soon

well, i finally got my 1st test run with it. it will hold speed if you push off, but the clutch is slipping on the wheel the hole time. i am going to have to figure out how to make it grip. as a quick test i tried a few wraps of electrical tape on the clutch and that seems to help, but since the ground is wet everything slips. there seems to be plenty of power for some good speed though. at least it will go abuot as fast as you would want to go on that scooter. lol

Try knurling the surface or scruffing it up w/ some sand paper. You could also do some spatter on it w/ a welder. Something to give it a little bite is what it needs. I've known people to use bicycle pegs for the drive shafts on these style bikes.

a bicycle peg would be too small. the gear ratio with a drive that small would make it really slow. something is in the works.

we can race to the finish line or fire, but im not betting anything cause i dont think i will win either way. lol
