Thank you. Penentration with a non-variable amperage control tig is all up to the user. Actually anytype of penetration with any type of weld is mostly determined by the user!!!!!!!!!!!!

 

Smiley TIG is harder to use than a real TIG. I had to overheat my welds to get good penetration with thin gauge tube. There's definitely some finesse required of the user, I know I could do better because I am out of practice, but it's not all my fault.

I have a Mitec 160 and I'm nit so sure I'm going to keep it. The guy who's teaching me TIG can lay some nice beads with it. I have a hard time controlling the heat without a pedal. I went to his shop and used his Miller unit.....No contest! That Miller is easy as pie to use/operate.



I'm thinking of getting a Thermal Arc unit and keep the Mitec only for Plasma (it works flawlessly as a plasma, cut's through everything I've needed with ease)

Just look over Ebay. It's a Mitec, but Smiley Donuts sells them with his sticker on it.
If you're looking to purchase one, mine is brand new (had it less then 3 weeks, used it for maybe an hour thus far) Mitec 160 Tig (40 Amp plasma cutter). Paid $600 for it, going to sell it for $500 shipped. Let me know if interested.
