My first downpipe!

Welds still need some practice but I think it came out really nice.

This 2.5" bend is much better steel than that aluminized crap I spoke of before so now the welds are starting to look like tig welds finally. I also made that flange our of mild steel plate.

I should have some pics of it installed up sometime tomorrow.

Looks like it will flow nicely.

Re: My first downpipe!

Yeah I tried my best to make everything flush out of 2.5" steel. the only thing I might throw out of the equation is the high flow cat. but we'll see how it performs.

Good job man! Hey I'll be over tomorrow with your manual. I'm going to be coming into london to get a lower rad hose because mine is just rigged up for now with a home depot coupler and adaptor. I got the vtec head on my car today eh! ---- that thing pulls hard when it kicks in. I used the factory head gasket so I'm running 12.2:1 compression.

P.S. Sorry for the thread jack.

That should work good, try and clean a little better before welding and you will get rid of that black.

I did, wire brush + Acetone. I used shitty filler rod though. Next time I'll be sure to get some stuff from an actual welding sypply store.

But she'll hold. I was trying to break the weld by hand and I couldn't.

What flange you got on the end? Can barely see part of it.

A wire wheel is not enough to get that thin layer of slag off bare metal. Go over it lightly with a grinder just until it's shiny, it will make a world of difference in the cleanliness of your welds. Overall, good job, that DP looks tits.

Its not a flange. Its actually a coupler that is now clamped with an exhaust clamp. Reason is that the downpipe was made out of 1 U bend and wasn't long enough to reach the high flow cat.

i don't know why every is ravving about the downpipe? the fitment looks great, it looks like the pipes line up great, but from where im standing the weld looks kind of shaky. it does not look even or consistent. maybe just the blurry distant pic playing tricks on my eyes?

not trying to hate or anything, piping can be a bitch to work with and i know that first-hand so goodjob on that!

We are raving because he is not a welder and has managed to build that himself of which for a DIY guy at home that is quite nice.If he was a welder/fabricator then no everyone would ---- all over it three times till sunday Hondatech style.
