my first BMW manifold

i have to make a second one, it will be much more simple though. i've built a fixture for the second one as well so the turbo position will be identical.

Re: my first BMW manifold

is it not possible to run a solid head flange on that?? it just looks as if the weight of the turbo is going to put alot of stess on those port flanges.. but awesome work none the less..

Re: my first BMW manifold

Good stuff Aaron. Hit me up if you have the flange file for Saab 900 flanges.

i wouldn't worry about the stress i would worry about trying to put it back on after its been used. individual runners are a PITA

for an e36 you would want to do a bottom mounted turbo

Re: my first BMW manifold

yeah, i've never done individual flanges before, it wasn't too bad going together, it gave me a tiny bit more flexibility when welding the runners since i like to weld one completely before i move onto the next one.

i don't imagine it will be coming off too often once it is on the engine it is going on. i should have some pics of it installed for a mock up for the external wg soon.

here is the fixture for the second one:

Re: my first BMW manifold

Looks like its for an e46 M3 with the individual flanges. What kind of price would you charge for a normal e46 325 manifold with t3 flange? Possibly even a log for cheapness factor? My buddies got a 2003 325ci e46 and he is really wanting to turbo, and was wanting me to weld him a log, but Im not even close to being confident enough to trust my mig welding skills to hold up on something like that lol. VERY nice work, some of those bmw fuckers pay upwards of a *couple of grand* for some of the turbo mani's for their cars. Thats ballin though, try making a market on bmwpsi.com, im sure youd be able to sell'em like hot cakes for a decent price.

theres a lot of bullshit in the e36 engine bay...don't be scurrred theres room
a couple guys around here are putting down some serious power and those cars actually finess it rather well
it's just the tuning is a bitch from what they've told me

Wow. Looks fabulous.

I am 99% sure that my next car will be a boosted E30 325i.

I'm holding out for an Aspen White 89 325i sedan w/ a 5 speed. Mmmmm...

There's so much to love about E30 BMWs, cheap, easy to fix, robust strong engines, rear wheel drive etc etc. Not to mention I love the lines and the boxy shape.

Your fixturing is just outright plain nice, we do this at work for small repeat jobs and ---- does it ever save a lot of wasted time and money

Nice job Weir

Re: my first BMW manifold

here is #2, much easier to build with the fixture and a more simple design with regards to the collector.
