I hacked together a turbo manifold for my 1.8 NB MX5. (Stick welded for that homemade effect)

 

Nice work. A bit different from most MX5 manifolds I've seen that have the flange vertical.

 

Yes Matt, most cast manifolds have vertical turbo flanges.

I tried this and it works well. I guess the main disadvantage of using mild steel is that it radiates more heat than stainless.

This layout should be better as it gets the job done with less piping and probably has better flow characteristics.
