Miller Auto-Set
I am looking at some cheaper welders to buy. I think I have decided on the Miller 140. Now the question is:
Is it worth the extra ~$80 for the Auto-set function?
If I read it correctly, they say you can just dial in the thickness of the wire and metal and it will set the wire speed and voltage for ya.
Anyone have experience with this. It is identicle to the basic 140 in every other way also.

Re: Miller Auto-Set
YES! It is defiantly worth the extra $80. I have been a ticketed welder for the better part of 10years, and I still like the auto set feature. It really makes it hard to burn through on thin stuff, and helps get novices proper penetration on thicker material. Go try them out, and see for yourself, most welding shops will let you demo b4 you buy.

Re: Miller Auto-Set
i would have to say its probably super worth it, i havent used the auto set on a 140 mig but when i did my aluminum certification welding we used a mig with a spool gun which also had a similar setting....bad *** imo..
