MIGGED SPLOG, FINISHED!

finally got around to migging my splog...

to be honest, migging was the easy part. those ------ middle runner are a BITCH to make. haha like 2 hrs each. angle grinder and no bandsaw for the loss.

just gotta throw the flange on there, and put the elbow on for the wastegate.

gotta return/repace the hole saw kit, the chuck stripped out. then i can do the 1.5in hole for the WG elbow.

Re: MIGGED SPLOG

that looks pretty damn good considering the tools you had available! I recently done a migged splog as well, with only a side angle grinder....lets just say it didnt come out as good as yours. :P

I'm still gonna rock it tho O0

Where did you get the els? Looks good, that ---- is way easier for a noob welder like me than the thinner ----. Looks like it should function just fine.. :6

Looks great. Those center runners are the bitch. I hated doing those. I don't any more.

danz 07-29-2008 12:19 PM

Re: MIGGED SPLOG

yeah the middle runners were ridiculous... i don't recommend trying to make this manifold, unless u do straight runners...

but even then boring/cutting them out to butt up to the other elbows was a pain.

i got the elbows from metal supermarkets. sch40. flanges from weirtech. (wastegate, turbo, head)

Re: MIGGED SPLOG, FINISHED!

what mig do you have?

danz 08-01-2008 01:53 PM

Re: MIGGED SPLOG, FINISHED!

to be honest... i dont know.

protool or something china related.

it came from ebay for $300 at the door. came with gas regulator and hoses, wire, ghetto mask. tweco "style" torch lol.

its 135amp. the amp is infinitely adjustable. something like 10 wire speeds. A-K or something.

its pretty bad ass. im still on my first tank, so i cant say much about logevity. but its been through thick and thin and has gone through two moves. made quite a bit of stuff with it... the manifold, catch can, down pipes, exhausts, pulled dents, plugged holes in ----... made cool fittings. heh. i love it.

it has paid for itself already. if it brakes down i buy a lincoln/miller and learn my lesson ;)

ahahahaha that is TOO FUNNY!!! lol
that was actually the first weld i ever tried to lay... dirty oil sheet metal and all, flux core for that... yeah it lasted a week or so.

mani looks really good. Im looking for a welder to start with. You think the one your using is a good starter welder for the price?

danz 08-07-2008 12:48 PM

Re: MIGGED SPLOG, FINISHED!

well, if it continues to work as great as it does, then yes... its never over heated. comes with a gas kit. 135 amp 110v. infinitely adjustable amps and lots of wire speeds... i like it. watch it brake down tomorrow.. lol

but i would say, best bet is to keep your eye open for a 135amp lincoln/miller used. cheaper, and if it works when u get it, it will work for ever.. hehe :)
