Mazda MX-6 V6 Custom intake manifold

Hey guys, new here (obviously).

Anyways i have a 1993 Mazda MX-6 LS. It has an ebay T3/T4 on it (.63 hot, .50 cold) on an 8.7psi spring.

as far as mods, well that would take too long. i re-wired the entire car, front to back, inside out, everything. Running a Megasquirt 1 processor V3.0 board with MSNS-extra code.

I'll post all that in another thread, but for now this is what i am working on.

This picture/diagram was not made by me, i am simply using it for measurements.

The reason for the silicone couplers is because the piece that bolts to the head is aluminum, and is cut off a stock intake manifold, and the metal is stainless steel.

some HorsepowerFreaks BMWs run well over 1,000hp and use silicone couplers to connect the intake manifold to the head, so i doubt they will be blowing off.

any questions just ask, i'll be keeping this thread updated as i go further.

Got my plate for the throttlebody today, tomorrow i should be able to finish this thing up. I'm going to grind down the welds on the plenum as well.

nice!

should've added some velocity stacks :D

polarexpress17 02-10-2010 07:23 AM

Thanks, there are velocity stacks in it as well.

pics of stacks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

polarexpress17 02-11-2010 03:03 AM

I'll have to get some better pics. the pics above that have the 6 stacks coming out of the intake ports on the head, those are the velocity stacks. and also the pic with the tape measure has an OK shot of one.

the plenum piping is 2 1/2" and the velocity stacks are 2" to 2 1/4". not a big turnout radius but better than nothing

sweeeeeeeet work

how you did you calculate it? or isnt it very necessary on boost?

hard2obtain 02-21-2010 01:11 AM

that is sick... i like it

Emperor 02-28-2010 12:59 PM

serious

how did you calculate this?

polarexpress17 03-01-2010 02:40 PM

havent had much time for internet lately.

this is actually an old design, i didn't do the calculations. i found them during some intense research on this specific manifold design. As far as i know mine is only the 2nd or 3rd one of this style to ever be made.
