Re: Making flanges

As you can see mine are different from any standard flange. So they need custom fabbing.

I'm planning on using the oxy torch method. making comp inlet, turbine inlet and outlet, wastegate, and bov flanges.

do you think I can cut all this with 40 cu ft of each?

Re: Making flanges

1 oxy/acetelene makes realy nasty cuts, and will warp a small part like that.
2 you will probably burn up a dremel tool trying to cut through 3/8' steel, you need a die grinder/ cut off tool/ whizzer
3. look in the yellow pages for metal suppliers/ steel suppliers.
4 I'd try a little harder to find one already done, theres got to be someone out there who makes them.

good luck

Re: Making flanges

Thats not much

I get all my material from work for free, 1/2" thick stainless sheets are just laying around everywhere

I cut out the rough shapes on a band saw and then use a 1 1/2" endmill on a moveable drill press to get everything else pretty much perfect, then a large file to make everyhting smooth. I made some wastegate flanges and ----
