Looking for some feedback
1 Attachment(s)
Here's my story... I've got about 2 years of fab experience under my belt, and at this point, I'm working on just getting better and better with every piece I work on. I've just recently started doing more work with tig'ing aluminum, and I'm lookin for some pointers and feedback.
I made this coolant tank at work for an FD that's getting an LS1 swap. I'm by no means completley happy with it, but also not completley dissapointed. I know there's a few VERY experienced welders on here, just lookin for some constructive critisizm, and to ----- some posts. Last pic is what I started with. Enjoy beeches |

Re: Looking for some feedback
Not bad. Start and stop are the issue like everyone else. We all are trying to make it look seamless.

Re: Looking for some feedback
That's mostly what I've been focusing on latley. They used to be ------- horrid, but I'm slowly getting there. I think at this point I just need more practice. Oh, and don't mind that barbed fitting on the side... I was trying a different rod, and it obviously didn't work out :1

Looks like complete ----. I hope you don't weld anything on my car O0
It's getting an LS1 eh? |
Re: Looking for some feedback

Re: Looking for some feedback
looks good, but as you say could use improvment.
idk if this will help much but here i go. when i fit up AL, i like to make the joints sit a certain way, there a bit harder to tack up but the weld just falls into place, and there is less chance of getting one side to burn away on you. this pic sucks to show what i'm trying to say, but there is a groove to put the weld in, not just on the end and side of the peices. https://www.agtronicmotorsport.com/g...20A4%20069.jpg Like i said this might not apply to you, but it is how i fit up, and it is way easier to control the puddle. oh and photobucket is your freind |

Wow, I can't believe how long it takes to open those photos. lol
Please use photo*ucket, I just lost 7 seconds of surf time. Nice welds though, keep up on the practice. I'm sure the Pros in here just didn't start out a Pro... |
