Little Engine Stand I Built

4 Attachment(s)
So, the plan is to meet OnlyFlash944 in South Carolina to trade my LS for his D15. i will be in my woman's 08 Fit and i dont want to mess it up so i made this engine stand for the trip. i also have been wanting to make it to store engines on anyway. when i get back from the trip, i will put wheels on it so i can roll it around. its going to get painted tomorrow.

anyway, its nothing special, but i havent posted anything in here in a while so here it is

---- yeah, cinder block jack stands.

now thats mighty ------dly of you.

Re: Little Engine Stand I Built

I have real jack stands. The reason I used those was cause I needed it real high and I needed the suspension at ride height. The barge pipes run through the suspension.

make some real tall wheel ramps. we had a boy crushed to death on a toyota forum 3 or so years ago from cinder blocks. brake rotor got him in the abdomin. obviously he had the tires off it but still... you could be fat or something.

great! but how do you rotate the engine?
you know when you are building a block have to turn it upside down to put the crank in etc.

i am far from fat, but the M3 sits so low stock, i wouldnt have a chance if it fell. i might do something else as a safety now that you say that. it seemed pretty safe to me

its not for building the engine. i bought a stand for that. this is just for storage and transporting. i might use it to make manifolds and downpipes though.

in a couple weeks i am going to make another one for my small block 350. i have no idea what i am going to put that engine in so it will be sitting around a while

Re: Little Engine Stand I Built

You should at least stack the block with the cores pointing up and then a piece of wood or steel across the top. On their sides like that they are week as ----.

Re: Little Engine Stand I Built

Atleast throw something large under the tires so that if the blocks crack to pieces and it falls it'll land on something. Most people toss a spare wheel under there to catch it.

thats in the works. its a 110cc 2 stroke. stock makes about 9hp. they dont make a whole lot of parts for it and the ones they do make suck. they manage to get 20hp with shitty mods. i am going to machine the cylinder and head bases to raise the compression up from 6.8:1 to somewhere around 9:1 or maybe even 10:1. i am also working on an exhaust using an expansion chamber program i found. there was a guy that had a one off exhaust made that made insane power. it would wheelie anywhere from a standing stop up to 30mph. only problem was the exhaust made power at 12k rpm and his plastic cooling fan exploded. i might need to look into having a fan made before i go making too much power

Re: Little Engine Stand I Built

do you have a way to strap it down in the back of the car so it doesn't move around, or are you just gonna take er easy?

doing a mani/dp on that, i'd put it on a bench top. my back isn't what it used to be.

Scott-EP 09-29-2008 10:24 AM

Re: Little Engine Stand I Built

I have ratchet straps to keep it stable

I plan to put it on a bench or something if I use it for mock up. I mostly wanted it for storage and when I put wheels on it, then I will be able to move it around real easy

why would I build a stand to fit an LS when I want to bring back a D on it?

Re: Little Engine Stand I Built

is the ls going on there for the trip down there?

Scott-EP 09-29-2008 03:09 PM

Re: Little Engine Stand I Built

No, it's clean and unassembled. It will just sit in the back.
