Learning to fab, tips welcome!

Howdy y'all. I'm just learning how to fabricate my own stuff and figured I would put some of the stuff I have done so far here and maby get some advice on how to do it better next time. Keep in mind that most all of this stuff is my FIRST time at attempting it :)
First up is my exhaust made with the cheapest 2.5in tubing I could get at napa and welded with a crappy little craftsman 110v wirefeed with 3 settings low/off/high. Havent gotten to making the the extractor yet, soon hopefully. It will be a long 4-2-1 Attachment 4535 Attachment 4536 You may also notice my rear coilovers in those pics, coilover springs taken off an old 60's chevy truck with exhaust clamps on the shock to hold em at the desired height. raised the rear 2in. Next up is my fender fix (hit a guardrail, another story) I couldnt find a good fender anyware so decided to make one from 2 good parts. Attachment 4537 Attachment 4538 Attachment 4539 Attachment 4540 Attachment 4541 Had learned how to use the welder a little better by now, only blew one small hole thrue the metal and it was mall enough to weld back over after a little cussing ;) a little body filler and paint and shes good as new :) Attachment 4542 After that I couldnt find any new turn indicator lenses, seems they dont make em any more :( So I made my own with some 1/4in plexi glass, some clamps and a heat gun... I used the one good one I had for a form for the baisic curve. Attachment 4543 Attachment 4544 Heat and bend... Attachment 4545 Attachment 4546 Drill some holes and test fit... Attachment 4547 Used some paint for coloring chrome to color them and a little truck bed liner spay to border it and here its on the car.. Left http://i279.photobucket.com/albums/k...linkNew003.jpg Right Attachment 4548 I have since added a layer of textured plastic (the sheet stuff from the hardware store for overhead florescent tube lights) to give the light some diffusion. The last here is putting in a sunroof, I had the frame from a parts car so all I really had to do was cut out the hole, bend the lip down with a few crescent wrenches and seal it all up. Attachment 4549 Attachment 4550 Attachment 4551 Attachment 4552 Attachment 4553 From what I have seen so far y'all like the ghetto stuff so Ill throw my custom speaker box behind the back seat in here just for fun ;D Attachment 4554 BTW, the car is an 83' Nissan Pulsar NX with a 1.6L carby. I actually found this place because I am toying with putting a centrifugal supercharger on it with an electric clutch pulley so I can disengage it when I dont need it. |
don't think 'ghetto' is the word. Hick is more like it. The exhaust clamp coilovers did it in. Then the speakers you stole from your grandparents 'Hi-Fi' system to build that box.. You've actually de-valued the car by removing some of the scrap metal potential. Wow, can't tell you the last time I saw one of those. Make sure you check the floorboards, they were known to pretty well fall out due to rust. Not hating, get your fab on!

Hell yeah! Jump in the deep end and give it a go. Well done, keep at it.
