Latest Fiberglass Peice - Steering Column Gauge Pod
Well I want to have a semi sleeper look so I didn't want anything on the a pillar at all and I didn't want to have everything down low so I have to take my eyes off the road when I'm driving. So I got constructive and made this. I'm actually considering making another with 3 in it or two on the sides and make a spot for a wideband display in between them
Well here it is. Its a start. Thats Celery soup on the left and mushroom on the left. http://imageserver4.textamerica.com/...6204326635.jpg Here it is after a few layers of glass and some bondo and sanding. http://imageserver4.textamerica.com/...2620434209.jpg Here it is with a layer of paint on it. Thats a friends supra in the background. God damn does it handle twenty times better than my civic. http://imageserver4.textamerica.com/...6204626206.jpg Here is the finished product. You can turn the wheel and it doesn't rub at all. I'm going to put my new oil pressure gauge in there too. http://imageserver4.textamerica.com/...6204627690.jpg http://imageserver4.textamerica.com/...6204629237.jpg http://imageserver4.textamerica.com/...6204630909.jpg the other 2 5/8" gauge http://imageserver4.textamerica.com/...6034522609.jpg Whats that in the background? Oh its my 6" JRC! woot. Does Tyrus ever know how to package something up. I couldn't believe it. http://imageserver4.textamerica.com/...4084426918.jpg Wala. Questions are welcome. [img] |

Those came out pretty nice I put my safc
in the same spot with glass and bondo |
Re: Latest Fiberglass Peice - Steering Column Gauge Pod
Nice. If I were to do that, I would put the gauges a little farther out to the sides so you could at least see your tach/speedo. If you have an aftermaket tach there's no prob though.

Re: Latest Fiberglass Peice - Steering Column Gauge Pod
the soup cans seem to make awesome gauge holders mang, good idea. Nice workmanship too

Re: Latest Fiberglass Peice - Steering Column Gauge Pod
You guys want to know whats hilarious? Those soup cans are exactly 2" 5/8". Perfect for pods.
Those pics are taken low. When I sit in the seat and look at the cluster I can see the speedo sitting right at 0 as well as the rpms from 0-8000rpm.. Its awesome. I'll update with some pics when install the gauges permanently in there. |

fiber glass is simple enough to do. i made an intake and sunroof deflector for my car out of carbon fiber
im also in the process of making an adaptor to go from the 3" filter to the small inlet of my tdo4 turbo Attachment 37484 Attachment 37485 |

Re: Latest Fiberglass Peice - Steering Column Gauge Pod
those pods turned out slick!!! How long did it take you from start to finish?
also what wide band are you looking at to fill the void? |
Re: Latest Fiberglass Peice - Steering Column Gauge Pod
why not recess the "cans" for a smotther look???????
you can damn near flush mount a shift light and still have acess to the rpm chip. |
