jb weld

we were doing a motor swap and while putting the motor in kinda bumped and broke off the slave cylinder mounted on the transmission. like part of the transmission where it screws into it broke off. i tried to jb weld it back, left it over night and drove it the next afternoon, ---- fell apart again. need some pointer on how to use this stuff or if another product will work. (I'm thinking of welding a custom bracket to hold the damn thing)

Re: jb weld

you mix it right? You didnt use the 5min ---- did you? I used JB weld to patch a hole in a block, it held solid as could be. You probably mixed it wrong.

Re: jb weld

The slave exerts too much force for JB weld to ever work. You need to rewelded and then helicoil it.

Re: jb weld

drop the tranny, insert bolt from backside, use JB Weld as a threadlocker to keep it from backing out.

Did you rough it up with say 36 grit sand papers and degreaser before JB??

Sounds good to me.

Otherwise grind the area down and weld a nut to it. I like bone's idea better.

i do have a lincoln mig welder, i was thinkin if i could get it welded. i've tried welding aluminum before and it always burns up or eats away the aluminum. the tranny is already bolted to the motor and runnin, just can't shift gears. i'll try to post up some ghetto fab brackets if i do make them this week. thanks for the replys
