Default Intake manifold plenum size

Does anybody know the correct way to figure the plenum size for an intake manifold. Any help would be appreciated.

Thank You for your help.

Search m24X.zeroforum.com for experts taking about the subject.

Runners... get complicated if you want it exactly matched to your engine, but you can get a close approximation if you can look at how one of the big hp big balla Edelbrock units is done up.

Plenum... *sigh*. It was supposed to be either 1.48 or 1.58 times the displacement of the engine... and then you modify that number for VE. Meaning, the more air you ingest, the bigger the plenum should ideally be.

runners and plenum size will play a direct role on your rpm/torque band. you want to make sure that you know what type of power you want to make at what rpm, before you decide what size your runners and plenum are going to be.

longer & smaller diameter runners will net a lower torque peek, where a shorter & bigger diameter runners will net a higher torque peek.

plenum is going to be another way to get your peek torque at a specific rpm.

here is a link for a runner calculator.

http://www.rbracing-rsr.com/runnertorquecalc.html

ill see if I can find the one for the plenum size.

Anyone find any information on plenum calculations? or rules of thumb?

plenum size calculations work the same way as the runners. the bigger the plenum the higher your peek torque will be.
