I know this has already been decided, but i'll just comment anyway. All the high horsepower cars i've seen running aftermarket or fabbed manifolds go with the short runners and larger plenum. Example: the edelbrock intake manifold-- i met a guy at the track running 500 horsepower on a dart block, a watered down copy of his nephew's who was running 1100 horsepower, and both of them used the edelbrock manifold. and all the fabbed ones you see are the same way.

You can taper the runners also. You don't have to spend big money or time into trick peices. You start big on the plenum side and taper in to the port. I would do all this before you weld your half circle. It will be easier to clean up your taper into the runners. I have looked at maniolds with about 10 layers of weld on the plemun to runners then grinded to the taper the engine liked the best. These where with straight runners, looks like you are off to a good start.

The Miata boys won't know how to react to one that actually makes power.

updates... welded on the end caps to the plenum and the throttlebody flange. pretty much i just have to make mounts forthe fuel rail and machine the tb and head flanges and get my injector holes machined or cleaned.. depending on how bad they are. vaccum taps and fuel rail will be done this week

sorry if this is a retarded noob question, but im new to fabbing and FI (ive actually only welded once and i sucked massive *****, but practice makes perfect)... anyway, on to my question.

did you just reuse the oem TB onto your new plenum? If so, wouldnt this restrict your larger plenum?

Looks awesome, btw.
