HF/STD/CX manifolds

Hi I have HF/STD/CX manifold but the turbo has an external wastegate.I would like to cut a hole in the manifold it and weld a pipe to add a external wastegate to it.Will it control boost like it suppose to. I just need some boost till i finish my LS\Vtec\Turbo.

Use the O2 sensor bung with an adaptor?

Yes, cut a hole. Make sure you weld it well.

actually, the old solution was rigging the external wastegate to whatever would secure it enough to open the flapper:7

Re: HF/STD/CX manifolds

vitara/tt rod z6 (otherwise stock motor)
The turbo is a GM9
Si trans
E85

Going into an 88dx

Re: HF/STD/CX manifolds

Before I quit my last job, I used their mill to machine a flat spot over the bung hole, and opened the hole up to 40mm like hotrex's boyfiend does. The metal is decently thick there, but you have to take as little off as possible.

I have 2 HF's like this, one I don't need... :8

Re: HF/STD/CX manifolds

You could try a piece of pipe about 8" long between the manifold and the turbo and run the wastegate off that pipe.

Re: HF/STD/CX manifolds

If the guy has hf mani and wants to ad external wastegate and you say use 8 inches of pipe between turbo and mani his turbo would be on the ground

THATS what i'm saying SELLOUT

you dig nig

Re: HF/STD/CX manifolds

Ah, well shorten the pipe up. Your other post made absolutely zero sense.

Re: HF/STD/CX manifolds

Word, with a 1/2" plate, an HF, and a 14b my oil drain is at a weird ------- angle. A couple inches and it would be unusable.

Re: HF/STD/CX manifolds

Yes, those HF w/ adaptor setup puts the turbo pretty fucken low.
